We founded Physio Field Guide because we have a passion for evidence-based education. Our goal is to provide tools to physical therapists with real value and no fluff by drawing from our background as educators and generally busy people who needed efficient study aids.

Our Team

Dr. David Smelser, PT, DPT
Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy

Dr. Smelser completed his DPT at Georgia State University, and since then has continued to live and work in the Atlanta metro area. He is currently a faculty member in Georgia State University's Department of Physical Therapy, and he has taught college courses as an adjunct since 2016. David continues to treat patients with orthopedic and vestibular impairments in a private practice outpatient clinic, but his passion is in education—both the education of current and future physical therapists and in educating the public about orthopedics, health, and wellness.

Dr. Austin Kercheville, PT, DPT
Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy

Dr. Kercheville graduated with his DPT from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and since then he has been working for a private outpatient orthopedic clinic in Chattanooga. Dr. Kercheville recognized the need for more efficient physical therapy study aids when he was preparing for his OCS while simultaneously carrying a full caseload, working as a CI for a student physical therapist, and preparing for the birth of his first child. Austin's goal is to create tools to help therapists whose study time was as limited as his was.
